Fashion || Wear Your Air!

Air Max Day has come and go, and here I am still gravitating towards the best  sneaker  to ever launch. Air Max sneakers have always been a coveted sneaker to fully own at least someday please take emphasis on the word “fully” because it actually got to a point where I wore a friends pair more often than I shouldn’t have ..  I’m a huge supporter of Nike, they’re honestly a pair that everyone should own. The functionality, the comfort, high performance and the epic swag to add on never ceases to amaze me! I watched a video the other day on YouTube with regards to the A.M sneakers about how comfortable and how suitable these sneakers are for any occasion whether you going to gym or wearing them with your casual wear they still give off that sportswear polished look. This video increased that burning desire for me to beg my mom much more to buy me some Air Max!

Well, keeping away from the acquisitiveness that I strongly have for Nike Air Max sneakers, On the 26th of March marked the official 27th anniversary. Sneaker-heads, bloggers and general Nike supporters like myself took to Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #wearyourair in support of the “Wear your air” celebration campaign. My favourite amongst the variety of these sneakers is the Nike Air 90 boot in all black – This sneaker literally drives me nuts! Especially the colour, Such beauty!  The Air max 90 Sneakerboot  is described to be a statement of style and performance re-imagined for everyday living. Its quintessential comfort grants you the fit for an urban pace and is made for all global tastes. The all black with the oreo-like speckle on the white midsole makes this sneaker the best reinterpretation since there’s been quite a lot of Air max remixes. While the other colourways have dropped already this one gets an instant nod from me!  Too dope!

Fashion || Adidas Orignals x The Farm Comapany!

Adidas Originals has a way of maintaining a standard of producing phenomenal fashion with phenomenal brands. Such artistry and word class acclaim amalgamates into a flawlessly created collection. I just love how distinct Adidas is when it comes to working with other fashion labels, what they put in, on creating stunning fashion pieces  in connection with the partnering brand really is what they get out. And I couldn’t have summed this up better than presenting to you a new collaboration: ADIDAS ORIGNALS X THE FARM COMPANY.

 Yes, to be deadly honest I really had no idea whatsoever what Farm is in this collab and how they got to partner with Adidas Originals in the first place. But after much needed googling and research The Farm Company is actually a Brazilian label. An international creative agency based in South America. The collaboration was actually created to celebrate the upcoming FIFA Soccer World Cup with a collection that’s fueling with bold colourful, juicy and eye popping prints, basically the signature style of The Farm Company.

I really admire the understated prints and graphics in this collection - fusion of sportswear and colour. It all comes and mixes well altogether so perfectly, but really, isn’t this what we should all expect when two powerhouse brands such as these come together as one?  Adidas Originals and The Farm Company gelled together their unique styles to create a sportswear masterpiece that I for one absolutely love It’s incredibly well put together from its design aspects to launch!

Fashion || GQ x Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams GQ Magazine April 2014 Cover

Pharrell Williams Covers GQ Magazine and claims that he's at a point where he's happy. Hence, having to produce a hit-making song HAPPY and a new album G.I.R.L. He sure is in a happy space in his life right now. I've always been a suck-up for Pharrell's dressing sense and I don't know if you guys remember I actually wrote a post about him and his style that I absolutely find inspiring and amazing. Pharrell can be a bit extreme and that's what I admire particularly about his style, Men in fashion tend to shy away from a fashion piece that's daring and requires you to be at the forefront of everyone's sight - That's me! And Pharrell can rock something unusual and still make it look appealing just like the hat he wore at the Oscars although it caused a lot of controversy from fashion critics, I really loved that and this editorial he posed for GQ summed it all up for you!

Fashion Week || Laduma Ngxokolo - MaXhosa Knitwear #MBFWJ

Mercedez Benz Fashion Week (Johannesburg) has come and go,  and we have seen every trend and every designers perspective through their collections for A/W trends and how these should be articulated. What I admired wholeheartedly so at this year’s MBFWJ was the impeccable precision when it came to detail, The patterns, fabric, textures, the ambiance and just the general feel  on how the show pans out.  And one designer who fitted all this in was  Laduma Ngxokolo for his Xhosa patterned brand:  MaXhosa Knitwear. The splendor and spark of this collection certainly left a mark on South African fashion, specifically on the menswear side of things.  It’s quite evident that Ngxokolo’s collection were top-noch due to the positive feedback it has received right after its showcase, I for one went nuts when I first had a look at the images on Jerri Mokgofe’s blog .

In his words – “ My jouney into Maxhosa by Laduma knitwear started in 2010 with a thirst to find knitwear design  solutions for amakrwala  (Xhosa initiates)” The vision behind the brand can be encapsulated in a way where Ngxokolo used his love of Xhosa bead work, patterns, symbolism and colours to create suitable Xhosa inspired knitwear for Xhosa initiates..  which has now changed into creating designs admired by people of all cultures and races.

How ironic that I’ve been writing mainly of Xhosa-Inspired work  as of late. I love my culture!

I generally am interested in young innovative talent, young people who enforce creativity on our minds and inspire us with their amazing work. Vukile Batyi is no exception when it comes to creativity and design. This talented man who studied graphic designing at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University is taking the arts and culture industry by storm. He’s love for art keeps on scoring him big events to showcase his Xhosa inspired designs on iPhone cases, watches and clocks. Without forgetting the amazing work he showcased at this year’s Design Indaba Expo that seemed to garner a lot of attention. I assume through this event everyone has seen how talented and beautiful his sound to art is.

(These are my favorite!)

But it all had to start somewhere, Vukile Batyi  is inspired by his late aunt and her beading skills, almost all of his creations  feature the famous Xhosa beading patterns that I for one absolutely love, I’m Xhosa and I feel like this is one of the reasons why he’s art looks so appealing, I grew up in a village where I had usually seen my grandmother making knitwear in these types of patterns, so nothing excites me more than seeing people working with such synonymous patterns.

Fashion || Winter Menswear Fashion Trends!

Well if you thought I'd get away without posting about menswear trends, you figured it out all wrong. Menswear is very dear to my heart and I often have to face incredible urges of posting about menswear, But what I find is that there's not much to post about when it comes to menswear, and when posting about menswear nigga's aren't really interested on the latest trends, They just want a fashion piece for its value and how it fits into their lifestyle regime. My aim is to inspire guys to have a different perspective when it come to clothing and investing on to a few cool winter, summer or spring fashion staples for that matter. I mean there are stylish guys out there - that I even know of, BUT there's still a minority of those nigga's who dress exceptionally well and are always on point. MINOR aint better than MAJOR, right?

Invest on Raglan Raincoats
It doesn't have to be the exact coat, but if you have a cool one as awesome as this, then that's perfectly fine.

Black and White -
 Monochrome is still is one of my favorite trends, I feel like its one of those trends who will forever remain relevant, mainly because we all have one or two black and white pieces, besides that Monochrome is minimalistic and works well when you want to pull of that formal wear look.

Orange Is The New BLACK:
 Bold colors make long-lasting impressions, therefore nothing beats having to stand out on to a fashion crowd.

Fashion || The Perfect Coat!

The Perfect Spring Coat? Pastel!

Pastel Coats are one of those trends, and I couldn't help but post them on the blog since these are always a piece to invest on when the winter season slightly approaches.
