Coachella "Fashion Festival"!

Coachella has come and go, and here I am trying to give you guys the low-down on the fashion “boho” news that is this festival event. Coachella is not entirely all about the music, fashion plays quite a vital role in this event its way more than just having an attitude of “whatever works, I’m all good!” If you are fashion-enthused and you really interested in being bold and daring, then this event is the perfect time and place to do just that. You see quite a lot of risk takers, some outfits that get you on “whoah, bitch what were you thinking” feel but some that you just look and gasp at and just admire the whole articulation at which the outfit was curated. Well, through so much hype about this event I felt some sort of triggers to do a post and comment on the best outfits that I believe stood out amidst the rest!

Neutral Colours for Winter!

The other exciting thing about winter are neutral colours, you sometimes get to a point where you want to tone things down a bit because there’s quite a lot of hype when it comes to wearing bold ‘in your face’ colours well the first step of losing that typicality is to wear neutral colours, like beige, nude, white, camel and brown. These colours just scream winter because of their warmth and how they look without having any bold factor whatsoever, so they are perfect for winter considering that the cold season is right on our doorstep, maybe it is already. Winter is a season to keep warm and having surrounding pieces like coats, fur, biker jackets and lace dresses you basically are already buckled for winter. So to make things easier for you ladies I curated three different style looks on how to achieve the style of wearing nude-coloured pieces, I broke this styling session into three complete days mainly because I want to show you through a capsule of images how you can rock this look flawlessly. So I’ve gathered One, for work so you can expect formal wear here, Secondly, casual wear you can enjoy a brunch with friends with this look or just go out for coffee with a loved one and finally Three, a night out look perfect for going all out with your girls and you can add a bit of bold lip colour since everything you wearing is neutral. I hope I gave you an insight on how to wear neutral colours!

Printed Knitwear for Winter

Okay now, Summer is officially over and if you still not convinced about that, then why has it been so cold in some regions here in South Africa like day after the other and without forgetting the annoying rainy days? Yes, I know it’s hard to believe because really most of us aren’t happy waking up every morning to a cold breeze that leaves us with fever and pale skin when heading to work, university or school and then having to disclose ourselves by staying indoors and not really “living”. But honestly winter is not as bad as we describe it to be yes its cold but keeping away from that and discussing the amazing fashion we have for winter, is a more cheerful ( warming, I guess..) conversation to have right now, right?

And printed preferably oversized knitwear for me is one of the amazing fashion trends we have for winter. Prints are diverse and that’s what I love about them it’s just as wearing a piece of art from an inspired printed-pattern portrait, I don’t know if you guys remember my recent post of integrating the mutuality of fashion and art, you can read it right here if you don’t remember. But prints come in many ways through so many elements and even infusing two different prints in one piece and in this case since its winter that piece is knitwear e.g sweaters, coats, cardigans and even blankets. Fashion designers such as Laduma Ngxokolo for Maxhosa knitwear have also used lots of prints for their entire a/w collections. So it’s safe to safe to say that a printed clothing piece is a must have this season when such masses have made it rather comfortable for us to wear something with prints

Red Colour for Winter!

Red is the most dominating colour for winter which excites so much mainly because we’ve gotten used to the most neutral colours for the cold season, so it absolutely feels great welcoming a trending bold colour that I’ve seen on the runways and on red-carpets (pun intended there..) Red screams boldness, greatness and a fashion enthused individual who’s willing to play around the palette as a canvas by also toning it down with surrounding neutral colours for instance your beige chinos. So no more winter greys and browns – well not to completely ditch them, but it’s always intriguing welcoming a new feel and trend to the most “boring” season specifically when it comes to fashion and its laws. If the Spring/Summer season was all about bright yellows, oranges and baby blues (don’t you just miss these colours, they bring a smile to my face by just writing about them.) then winter is having a slight twist and delves through another frontier with an inclination of introducing red and many other unusual colours for this cold season. Red predominantly has darker palettes of black, grey and navy having differing shades from the prominent blood –red that we all know of; this provides exciting hues of the colour such as b urgundy and an energetic lift to winter-induced blues.

Ephymol SS14 - SAFW

Ephymol has been a household name when it comes to menswear here in South Africa, showcasing since 2002 at SA Fashion Week, this year’s showcase was no different, the same aesthetic that Ephymol has kept over the years of elegance and class was still featured in the entire collection. I’m always on the line to see the growth and development of menswear and fashion designers and what each of them bring to the fashion industry. The past few years menswear was not that popular as much as it is now but through mediums like MBFW and SAFW it has evolved and will keep on evolving.

Ephymol’s SS14 collection was all about a fashion-exploring man, a bold man draped in Ephy prints whilst still maintain the standard of looking classy and elegant at the same time. The main focus was the prints, the retro assurance as well as the luxurious fabrics. Whilst the 50s and the 70s era being the backdrop inspiration of this collection, the pieces are beautifully curated, understated and speak volumes. Erykha Badu in Givenchy for Purple Magazine!

Since Erykha Badu is somewhere in South Africa right now I thought I should just post something that involves her in some way or another, Already being the face of Givenchy SS14 Erykha Badu poses in a retro black and white style for Purple Magazine this was a while ago, but I could not control myself from posting this on the blog, these images have that distinctness when it comes to fashion, the editorial work that went into this is truly amazing!
